By reading the factory shop manual, it appears that the values of the sensors for both models are the same, so I wonder if anyone has swapped the ECU's?

I am running a turbo now and have run into a drivability issue - I have a 2600i and am thinking if swapping the ECU's and MAF (not at the same time) to see if it helps.

I was told that the ECU from the fuel injected B series share the same plugs. Will it plug in? 90-93 should. However the variables used in the programming MIGHT be different.

They are not the same, but in a pinch, you could use one to get you by.

I haven't tried this myself as I don't have a 2.2 truck. But I would think that with mild driving when you are operating in closed loop mode, there shouldn't be too much of an issue as it will be metering fuel off of the O2 sensor. However, when you begin to stand on it and it's in open loop, then as EmJay suggested, the tables in the computer won't match the displacement of the other engine so that is where I would be concerned. Since you are running turbo, the difference could be magnified. At least you have an AF gauge to monitor so you can see what's going on.

The harnesses appear to be the same but not the ECUs.

What I am really wondering is if the 2600 ECU may give me better performance with the turbo since it may give more fuel.

No telling really. I wonder if the ecu from a turbo probe/626/mx6 uses the same harness?

I would guess a 2200 ecu would cause a lean mixture, with a turbo would be bad. It will be putting fuel for a 2200 cc engine into a 2600 cc engine.

I don't believe its going to cause rich/lean issues, both are going to have variables based on what the o2 sensor tells the ecu. I'm thinking a turbo computer so it will know what to do under boost conditions. That is assuming they will plug right in.

No such luck , the MX-6 turbo ECU uses a a completely different pinout, it has 3 plugs and is not made by Mitsu, it's a Denso.
