Guys, my b2200 is leaking like crazy! I've already ID'd the dizzy O ring, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket & fuel pump gasket as leaking.

I'm sure it'll need new cam seals & crank seals. Can you guys give me some pointers on how to do the cam & main seals? I've done many, but not on a Mazda.

Now for the biggy: Do you need/have to pull the tranny OUT from under the truck to do the rear main? Or can you slide it back & have enough room to pull the clutch & work on it?

ive never done a main seal while on the truck, however im sure it can be done, might have to unhook the driveline so you can slide it back with the trans so that it dosnt leak trans fluid all over.

You can slide it back on the manual. I didn't have an automatic but I imagine you can just slide it back too.

Don't neglect / forget to put sealant on the flywheel bolts; otherwise they leak oil.

I would expect install a repair sleeve also!

I'd replace the pilot bearing while you have the tranny off. Unless you expect to have the tranny off or the engine out in the near future, $15 bucks is cheap insurance to prevent having to go back in.

Also, without knowing the history on your truck... and just guessing the engine and tranny are original, if you are going to go through that much work to get to the rear main, I would anticipate finding the input shaft seal on the tranny leaking as well. So I'd be prepared pull the tranny out completely and do that seal as well. Might need a repair sleeve too.

So if you want to keep your down time minimal, I would have those parts standing by ready to install. If you decide you don't need them, then you can always return them. Chances are they will be a day or two away from your local parts store. Not good if you pull everything apart on Saturday morning hoping to drive it that night, and then Saturday afternoon the parts store says "we can have on Tuesday." If you're not in a hurry, then you can always just order them after you get it out.

Scotch, can you elaborate on the repair sleeve? What sleeve is it exactly? I will do the pilot bearing for sure.

The motor & tranny were supposed to have been rebuilt 50k ago. Key word being "supposed."
