Well seeing how you have decided to use one of my pictures of my engine from about 3 years ago I should probably chime in... Yes you can remove it. The only thing still hooked up to my intake is the mass air flow sensor at the end of my short ram intake...

well, it looks like you also need to get a breather filter since it hides under that resonance chamber

Was kind of a trip down memory lane seeing that picture... I saw it and was like I KNOW that picture... But why... oh yeah, that's my picture... Lol

haha what will it do if i remove that box? just be louder on the intake?

Negative! It won't be loud at all........because it will start up and then die! You will HAVE TO plug that hole that is left there if you remove the resonator. If not, your intake will draw air from that hole instead of through the MAF sensor as it should.......that's the main sensor that tells the ECU how much fuel to flow through the injectors.

When you remove the box, any now open ports on the intake will need to be capped like earl said. My intake makes some noise but I played with the set screw on the throttle body to make it do that.

what would i do to cap it? change the section of piping?

Rubber cap that fit that connection off the intake or change the entire factory tubing to not have additional ports... Mine are taped off with electrical tape...
