AngusWilly...

sorry not to thread jack but I've been reading up on these turbo builds on MazdaB first off I never have seen anyone boost a mazda B engine before haha usually swaps but then again idk why I would expect any less I have seen turbos on all kinds of things. I have done quite a few boost projects myself but all on my civics, so after recently purchasing a 93 single cab B2200 I have been waiting to tare into it. I don't want to get to crazy with it yet just a static drop some body work and paint but this turbo thread caught my attention. I seen another thread of a guy using the Probe GT turbo manifold and turbo ect. Got any pics of your set up man? And what engines work best or handle boost the best? I haven't done any research yet just noticed you have made a lot of comments on other turbo threads so I thought I'd ask before I started searching lol. I don't want to have a huge HP build which more then likely isn't possible for these engines I could be wrong, just something moderate and reliable just for fun! Any info on boost set ups what works well and what doesn't things easy to get used or new cheap builds or pricey just trying to get an idea first i guess. Any info would help thanks bro!

The first thing to know is that the B2200 motor is available in other countries with a turbo from factory, this motor is very strong.

The probe motor is the exact same motor with different head and pistons.

You can do just about any type of setup you like, the easiest being the Probe/MX-6 setup.

Alright I didn't know they were available from factory in turbo that's crazy. So the Probe or Mx6 turbo motors will pretty much bolt right in? And what about boosting the non turbo stock b2200 motor obviously not as strong but will they still handle 6-10 psi without taring into the internals? And yeah I knew the probe /MX6 setups would be the cheapest and easiest but those factory turbo manifolds will bolt right up to my block? I have the 133.2 cu in which I'm guessing is the 2.0 I've read that the compression is very low like 8.6:1 which in my experience depending on the bore and stroke and the strength of the rods means it should handle boost very well if done right and tuned. Sorry for asking so many questions man I'm very interested in this and you having already of done it and know a lot I figure I'll pick your brain haha. Thanks bro!

Little update, got my manifold back today, they ended up just cutting it, and flipping it. Got turbo installed, and gonna finish intercooler piping tomorrow. Had to stop because I had to get ready for work. Other than that, change oil, prime the turbo, and take it for it's first drive

As for the wires throng the hood, I put a hood scoop of of like a dirt modified circle track car on (its big up here) and put my gauges in there, instead of crowding up the interior. And because it was easier haha

Niiiiice man! I like your set up. I really want to boost mine as well. If you don't mind me asking what engine are you running? I have the 2.0 not as good as the 2.2 but I've read both of these motors are great for boost and handle it well. I wouldn't mine swapping it out for the 2.2 turbo motor or the Probe turbo motor but then again if I was going to spend the money on a swap I'd probably do something completely different. And what turbo are you running? I'm really interested I've boosted all of my civic's but never a Mazda nor a carbureted motor I'm really curious and any info would be helpful bro!

I have the 2.2, turbo is an ebay t3/t4, there's a guy on ebay that seeks it as a kit, you need to find the parts to ghee everything work together. I had to get the flange cut off and flipped so my turbo could sit on top, I'm thinking it's a 626 manifold, but Angus Wiley could tell you better than I could. As far as boost I've been told by the guy that did the probe turbo in one of the other threads that the stock fuel system will handle about 5psi, any more and it'll make it cut out, so I'm also scouting for stuff for my fuel system, electric fuel pump, and a boost reference fuel pressure regulator

2.0 and 2.2 are the same engine. The probe head bolts right up to either but you do have to do some firewall massaging. the turbo probe turbo manifold bolts right up to the 2.0/2.2 head without mods. just need to run oil and coolant lines.

Sweet yeah I think I've seen that mani on ebay. But I was hoping to get 8-10 psi I figure is a reasonable amount on stock internals. So what carb are you running then? Is it difficult to set up a electric fuel pump with a carb set up?

I'm running a weber 32/36, and as far as hooking up an electric.fuel.oump, either out it in a toggle, or find a power wire that hooks up to your key, and typical ground and mounting stuff, just as long as you have a good fuel regulator I'd think you'd be fine
