midnightmike, as i posted earlier

is there any way to determine for sure there is a pressure plate problem? how would have it been an intermitent problem at first? i looked at the pressure plate and didnt see anything wrong up in there.

well i got a chance to work on it today, and i went ahead and pulled out the trans. although the pressure plate looked ok through the inspection hole. anyways i removed the clutch and to find that the pressure plate seems ok, but the clutch had came apart. 2 springs had came out and the flywheel bolt head were worn looks like from the springs and also the pilot bearing had came apart. there were only a few balls left in it when i pulled it down. the clutch isnt really worn and ive had the truck for about a year and a half. so anybody got any thoughts as to what caused this or what failed first? or was it just a shitty clutch? i just wanted to figure out what happend before i go back together with it. i will try to put up some pics later if i get time.

well nevermind just found some info on a clutch site and it says the reason for the springs popping out was from the pilot bearing coming apart.

my b2600, has the same problem but its not as bad as yours yet, the funny thing is the kid i bought it from said he replaced the tranny in 2005, u think he wouldve replaced everything with it, now when it goes for shit i have to drop the tranny and do it all,

its a good thing you found the problem, now, id hate to messing around with the tranny over and over

yea i was at ease when i found the problem even though i wasnt wanting to put a clutch in that truck right now, well shit happens. any thoughts on that pilot bearing though? im thinkin maybe it just wasnt changed when the clutch was and hell it may be the original bearing. i think just age or bad bearing didnt see anything else it could be

midnightmike, it looks that i wasnt that lucky after all. the truck is up and running now. i drove it yesterday and it was grinding slightly going into gear, only happened sometimes and it goes into gear now just not as smooth as it should. but i had to take a chance on the tranny since cash is scarce right now so ill just ride it out i guess.
