no the old disc was in right also. 2 springs came out of the old clutch and thats what was making contact with the bolts. im lost with it ive been back through everything. i had no grinding in gears before just wouldnt go into gear. or wouldnt come out of gear. the grinding isnt bad now its just enough to feel through the shifter. and is still a little troublesome to get into gears but only in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd downshifting. running through the gears accelerating it does fine other than the lite grinding of gears. im guessing maybe the old clutch messed up the trans although i checked input shaft play while it was out of the truck and it felt fine. my thoughts are the clutch that was in it was bad or the pilot bearing was bad for awhile and i dont know what the people before me may have done to patch it to sell. what its the recommended adjustment for the master cylinder pushrod?

new update on my truck. ever since the new clutch was put in its been letting out near the bottom, the other day going to work it just started letting out near the top which was where it always has let out. any ideas to why this would just change? also its still having trouble going into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. but seems to get better once truck has warmed up.

Ok, I pulled the trans and replaced the clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot and throw-out bearings and for some reason the same as before. No change. The clutch will not disengage. It's like the throwout bearing isn't pushing the plate enough. I replace the slave cylinder as it was leaking a little bit. I dunno what else to do.

Though my old clutch disk got slipped on backwards somehow.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issues. I had a grenaded pilot bearing and so replaced the clutch, and pressure plate, throwout, pilot, turned the flywheel, changed the transmission, new slave, and new master and the clutch still doesn't release all the way. I'm stumped.

your freeplay adjuster behind the pedal was probly adjusted that way to compensate for the old worn clutch, just a guess but maybe u can loosen it up some to where your pedal has about 1/8 inch of travel b4 it actually pushes the clutch cylinder in. just a little stud with a locknut that is pushed by the pedal and pushes into your clutch master cylinder. that or theres too much fluid between the master and slave.
