It doesn't matter, if it's L shaped even if it comes out from the top or the side, of course the L shaped one is the appropiate one for the top pcv hole kind.

If I was you I would get a new hoe and a new PCV valve anyways . It shouldn't cost you more than $6.00 and call it a day.

If this helps: my original Weber kit came with a plastic fitting which pointed down, so I used a 90 degree plumbing fitting with a real short hose to get it routed horizontal so I could attach the PCV hose. Two years later (I heard the kits had been changed as well) I bought a taller air filter assembly for like $15 at Arizona's BAP, partly because it had a 90 degree elbow as part of the kit, and used that.
