rebuild it? i thought you said it had a chunk missing out of it?

They can reweld it all in and then resurface it. I wasn't sure if they could but these guys said it didn't matter how big

wow, that's interesting. what kind of warranty are they going to give you on it?

90 day. I've heard of them doing this more often now since aluminum heads are more common. I also have a guy selling one that was just rebuilt that I'm probably going to buy here soon. Just gotta borrow the $$ for it.

cool man. i have heard of getting the cracks welded on aluminum heads but never a chunk that was broke off. make sure you get that bad boy on as soon as you get it back and drive the shit out of for that 90 days. haha. good luck man.

I got a pic on my phone of the chunk missin. I'll try an upload it later.

damn! that is a chunk! did you find the piece or are they just going to fill it with weld?
trplezro   +1y
I think they'll just fill it. I never found the piece either. But hey, it could be the reason the cylinders look like they were honed recently, or it was the cause of the head failure

hmmm, i wonder what ever happened to the piece? your valves look good, or at least like they haven't been beat up by that chunk that is mia. my head job cost me around like 150 bucks and that was with a 3 angle valve job, which you really want to make sure they do, and a bunch of other stuff to that they did to it. on the pluss side, the whole engine gasket kit from felpro is only like 60 bucks. the 86-93 models cost around 100 bucks.
