B2600 Head Questions

I thought it was gettin painted!!! Looks good though

I asked him not to paint it.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Finally after re-learning everything I didn't know about vehicle (not dirt bike) timing, I got it put back together. Initially, it smoked pretty bad, but no doubt that's from all of the crap that was built up from it sitting around and the bad head gasket from before.

After getting the timing set right, I took it for a test drive. The more I drove it, the better it performed. Before I knew it, I was running down the interstate at 70MPH. It runs great! I'm pumped.

Next step, wheels and tires and front bumper (still undecided here).

way t go.The 2600is are much better running trucks than the 2200s.as long as u dont let em overheat,they run really well.BJ

I am having the same problem with mine. Did the headgasket, and filled her back up with coolant. Got in it and began cranking.... in no time did the coolant go right to the crankcase. i just ripped the motor out, going to go all fresh, bearings, rings, etc. then see how she does.

Did you have your head checked for level and/or cracks?

Just got back from the machine shop.... 3 cracks in the head, 2 cylinders out of round....they want to go 20 thousanths over n a new head...IDK. Might think of a SBC swap or sumthin. kinda bummed right now.

same here. check on CL and see if you can't find a head for it, or eBay.
