I wondered about that, I just hoped it wouldn't be. But since I've got the dash torn apart for a different repair I'll try replacing the gauge while I'm at it. We'll see....

I overestimated the junk yards around me...No gauge. But I looked on another forum which ushered me to take a step back...Looking at the rear of the block I can see where the temp sending unit is supposed to go, but in it's place is a plug. And the sensor near the thermostat that I had switched to get a minimal response from the gauge looks like a mickey moused job. Now my question is, if I open the chunk of wires to find the one that goes to the original sensor location which wire is it? also is the sending unit sometimes called the temperature switch? (that was the name of the part I found at autozone that looked correct.) Hopefully that question makes sense....Thanks for any help.
