Speaking of quick oil change shops, I nearly had the following happen to me. . .when I worked at an Express Oil Change:
In my case, the driver was on a cell-phone and NOT paying attention.
Inadvertence can be expensive.
So can assumptions.
Money and time
Recently, I had a friend of mine give me a 19 rim with an almost new looking tire on it for a Honda CB350 I am putting back together as a project.
Once I got the wheel / tire installed on the motorcycle, the tire went flat.
I assumed that the tube had a pin hole in it.
I took the wheel back off.
Carried it to a motorcycle shop.
Removed the tube.
Checked it for leaks.
Found the leak.
In the leaky valve stem.
All it needed ultimately was the valve core loosened and tightened to re-seat it in the valve stem.
A lot of time invested in something that could have been easily fixed on the bike.
Live and learn. . . won't forget to check the simple things first.
Next time.
But in the case of overfilling a crankcase, when the engine runs long enough to froth up the oil, the oil pump won't pick it up, and the engine galls internally due to oil starvation.
And then when the mechanic takes it apart and shows the damage to the customer who has destroyed it by the overfilling, the customer USUALLY is standing there in disbelief, because. . .
"I added oil to it this morning."
