Use ohms (resistance scale). One lead goes to the terminal where the wire would attach, and the other just goes to the brass body of the sending unit (as it grounds through the engine metal).

Yep, it went bad, replaced and now working. EDIT: FOUND LOCATION FOR LOSE HOSE. Also changed the air filter, breather filter, battery terminal, and the air duct hose going to the engine from the air intake pipe. Running smoother but really seems like it's at high RPMs when idle, gets a whole lot quieter when in drive or reverse. Will be checking spark plugs later today but what is the proper way to adjust the idle?

I was trying to adjust the idle last night but only the long screw seemed to be doing anything. The screw that is supposed to be behind the pin (someone actually broke it off) doesn't seem to do anything noticeable. Also, I read somewhere about a fix for when you have to step on the gas to start up the truck but am no longer able to find it.
