Okay after drooling over jrock4224's Mazda I had to get my own. At first I bought a tan 87 standard cab it was a good truck but what I really wanted was an xtra cab. A friend of mine had an 89 Cab Plus and I could not resist, power steering, working cruise control, and it had already been lowered cranked torsions in front and 3in blocks in the rear. The first thing I did was change the wheels, re index the torsions bars and took out the large rear leaf spring. I wanted to keep the graphics but after I washed it the pressure washer started to peel them off. Next was the important interior stuff, swap out gauge cluster for one with a tach, stereo, new steering wheel actually old wheel from my Passat that had in the garage for about seven years waiting for new home.

Next step was to lower it more. I got some 18 Nissan titan wheels from a friend to replace the 14in white spoke wheels it originally had and some used tires. Only problem is they are 225/45/18's I want a 225/235 35/18 but I am broke so I'll roll them for now until I can get some more loot. I also removed the graphics, i would have like to of kept them but I may have some new ones made up like my 87 had.

So Slapnuts aka Jrock hooked me up with a set of DJM Lower control arms and re powder coated them, 1HotDawg sold me a pair of toxic shocks. Now the front end of the Mazda doesn't make me cringe when I see a bump in the road. Before the Mazda I drove an Astro Van all the time potholes, speed bumps, pulling in and out of driveways no problem. Now that I am living the Lowlife I have to change my driving style. The drop on the LCA's plus having the torsions indexed means I have to run a lower pro tire only problem is that's not in the budget right now. First choice was some chrome Mazda 15's Junior had but after running 18's for a while I missed the big rim look. A good friend who works in parts helped me out with some 17in Nissan Titan wheels.

Too bad the police impounded that astro van.... Slap nuts huh? Next Time i will forklift your truck onto some shelving. I only risked our lives for a hour or two. I vote chromies but I am old school.... Lower and no fender risk.... Ps thanks for the motivation I hit up kfc for u.
