I even trimmed some meat off of the backside of the grille honeycomb.
Also lowered it and made a bracket to use the factory latch and release cable.

Speaking of good release cable... I am using the factory cable and release as well.

Last night I got the good latch relocated. Had to move it back 2" from the stock location. Thanks to a creative technique from my buddy Joe, I didn't have to use hood pins.
I still have to grind down the welds and paint it, but it works perfectly.

On another note, the new clutch master cylinder will be in the mail today. Needed a larger one for the T5 tranny (7/8" slave).
Also ordered a 17" electric fan and relay harness from Summit today. Hope to have the initial test drive by the weekend!

Here's an update...

Latest walk around video:

Got the electric fan installed and wired up. It's a 17" push/pull fan that is rated 2,400cfm.

And a couple random pictures after I rolled the truck out of the garage and gave him a bath.

I am having a hard time bleeding the clutch. That is the only thing keeping me from test driving it. I installed a new wilwood master cylinder to connect to the hydraulic slave cylinder on the T5. I converted it to a hydro setup.
Comments or suggestions welcome.

So here's the dealio... I've been messing with this clutch system for the past week. Basically, I am using a CNC 7/8" slave and a Wilwood 3/4" Master cylinder. Because the new MC was about 2" longer than the stock Mazda one (which is only 5/8" bore), I had to raise it up about 1" on the firewall so it wouldn't hit the tire when laid out. This also required me raising the clevis on the on the pedal 1".
I had a hell of a time bleeding the system, but I finally got all of the air out of it tonight. Had a nice firm clutch, but it did not have enough stroke to disengage the clutch.

So ultimately, I ended up ordering a Wilwood 1" bore MC tonight. If it comes in on Saturday, I will try to have it installed on the weekend. I know the 1" bore will push more fluid, thus giving me a longer stroke at the slave. It may increase the pressure needed on the pedal, but keep in mind I moved the clevis closer to the pivot point, giving me more leverage (less force needed to apply to the pedal).
Wish me luck! As soon as this baby works, it's time to test drive!

No pictures on this update... but I am taking the truck to a show (Dropt Out) in Akron, OH this weekend. I am trailering it there.

I ordered some new 18" KMC wheels and tires last weekend. They should be here either Friday or early next week.

Ordered some more goodies today. Driveshaft tunnel from Gauge, handle relocator and gas door filler from Grant.
