Made some decent progress on the truck this weekend.

I got the driveshaft tunnel welded in and seam sealed.

Don't wire the negative side to ground!
gorgonheimer has it right. Your negative wire should come from the distributor.

I started using a product from Lowe's called Peel & Seal as a sound deadener. It has a lot of great reviews and is only $16/roll for 12.5sq. ft. I should be able to do the whole floor with 2 rolls. I haven't decided if I am going to do the back wall yet. It's very easy to use and very durable.

Made some progress on the truck this weekend. I shaved the tailgate handle and relocated it inside the gate.

I also finished using the sound/heat deadener on the cab floor. Ready for carpet now!

Looks good Mike. Seeing how that peel and seal lays down is really motivating me to get mine done, did you cover the back of cab or doors? . Did u have any warpage in ur tailgate? Anyway Truck looks real good.

Thanks Fred. No I didn't bother doing the back wall or the doors. However, I do have some left, so I might end up using it up somewhere. Keep in mind this was only to help keep down the road noise and prevent heat from the exhaust and engine bay from entering the cab. I don't have subs or anything to make the metal rattle.
No warping from tacking in the shaved fillers, but I took my time and had it on very low power.

Productive day on the Mazdawg. I removed the rear end to have it shortened 3/4" on each side so the tires don't rub the bedsides when laid out. Also installing the RX7 LSD carrier member so no more one-wheelie-peelies!
And I had a little extra time to install the roll pan. I still have some more tack welding to do on it before it's finished.

Looking good Mike! Are you gonna swap the rx7gears into the "b" housing? And off topic but... Are you gonna keep it red or is that something that's gonna change? Glad to see another smooth rollpan too are u gonna put a plate box in or no. I say run it smooth!

Thanks. Yes the Rx7 chunk is going into the B housing.

The truck will stay red, but a darker red with metallic.
The tailgate and pan are staying smooth. The plate is in the back laxan window.

A few updates... I installed the ACC custom molded carpet last weekend.

I got the seats back from the trim shop. 2 weeks time and they look awesome. So comfortable too. They are black leather with ostrich inserts.

I've been tinkering with the ranger headlight conversion the past few weeks. I finally finished it today. I've pretty happy with it. I took my time and my trimming of the grill turned out perfect. I'm looking forward to getting them wired up with HID's. The grill and valance will be painted to match the body color.
