Your right about the skulls, they still pop out a little too much I might go back with black skulls. I plan to do the glove box with the word, "STRANGER", in the color of the frame.

If you look close in the picture you can see where I have the stencil taped on to paint it soon.

Oh, and "littledeeds" over at the other Mazda site, "Mazda Trucking" is the guy who did the skulls on mine. You can give him any pattern to work with, and he will make it.

And, yes I do plan on painting the rest of the plastic behind the seats black.

Yep, very EASY stuff to work with. All you need is a razor blade, and a hair dryer.

Oh, and some alcohol to clean the surface before you apply the wrap, then some more for when your finished.........burp.

The fun of fender flare's.

Today I had the fun of trying to get the urethane fender flares to fit.

I found that in order to do this you WILL have to cut out some of the fender.

Just don't cut too much. Now ideally you should do this before you paint the fenders, but I found the deal {here in the classifieds} after painting.

At first I thought I would just paint them, and bolt them on.......no, no, no, that would have been waaaay to easy.

I finally got them to fit, the only thing I can think of is that they were ment for a 4x4 fender, not a reg cab 2 wheel drive truck.

Here is the mock up, and what I had to cut.

I still need to find something to bond them to the metal. I was thinking about seam sealer as that stuff really gets a grip and remains flexible {I've got some drying right now on two junk parts for the experiment}.
Or, using a windshield kit. I'm talking about the black stuff that goes around windshields to hold them in. Its super sticky, and also bonds good.
Anyone else have an idea I'm open to suggestions. I also want to add that I have bonded fiberglass to metal so I do have the experience with that type of bond, just not this one.

Afraid I might be out of my element on this one. But, your ideas on bonding with the windshield stuff sounds pretty good. Finding something to stick to metal is easy - getting it to stick to the fender flair material is the real trick.

I know, I did a search on it, and got a pretty big list of stuff that is supposed to work.

But, the factory had to use something on these things, as I have seen many on different vehicles, which came from the factory with add on type flare's.

If your doing fiberglass to metal its easy. I can't remember the name of the stuff, but it smells like peanut butter when its mixed.

I'll post on how the seam sealer worked out tomorrow.

Well, I can defiantly say that seam sealer don't work. I almost forgot about it. I pulled the thin strip of steel out of the garage, and the urethane just fell off, after I took the cloths pins out.

So I have yet to try the window seal yet.

I tried the two sided tape from 3m on a lower valence on an 88 Mustang. Even with the factory clamps the tape wouldn't hold the valance tight to the body.

Sorry to say but I was guessing the seam sealer would fail. Window sealer on the other hand sticks to everything (including you!)
The 3M tape is a wonderful product, but I would not trust it to hold anything to the side of my truck!

Pop rivets thru to the sheet metal? Oh wait, bad idea (sometimes I have my stupid moments)

Pop rivets would be a Godsend if there was a lip on the inside of the flare to attach it to.

I finally figured out the fender flare problem.

I got an answer to call the local glass company, and get what they use to hold the glass on windshields. I called and talked to a guy, and found out i knew him from down the road.

He said there were TWO types of 3M double sided tape. One was foam, which was the stuff I had {useless}, and solid, which is a kind of putty.

He said the solid tape would bond so well that you couldn't ever get it back off, which is what I need.

Here is a link to some different tapes.
