This engine is gorgeous!! Don't expect much more outta me because, in my eyes, if it ain't diesel, it better be GM. lol You, sir, have been working on a masterpiece. Keep up the good work.

Guys I need some advise on bracing the gutted bed. I plan on using the factory cross braces except for the one that is missing between the wheels, and the second one from the cab as that is where the intercooler is.

I know that I won't have any space for cargo except for what space there is over the fuel cell, but that's ok, my wife's Tacoma will do for that job.

I'm going to the steel place tomorrow to buy some square tubing.

I plan to make a square box around the top of the bed with 1/2" tubing, and gusseted in the corners with 1/8" steel plate.

One the bottom I plan to do the same thing, but what size square tubing would you recommend, 1". I don't want to go over board on weighing it down, but enough that it will be braced.

I plan to join the top square with the bottom with 1/2" square tubing in a "V" type of brace running down each side of the truck as well as each end.

Here is the bed now.

I would use 1" just to ADD weight over the rear wheels. This thing is gonna need all the help it can get in the traction dept!!!!

Actually, your right.

Here is the steel I got today. It was only $55 for all, for which I'm glad it wasn't higher.

Sorry, I've been offline for a few days now, as my previous Verison modem took a dirt nap. Now I get the pleasure of paying the rat B*stards $10 for each 1G I go over 4G's in a month.

Anyways, the lengths are 74" x 4, and 5ft x 5, then a few 1/2" bars.

I've already found a place I will have to cut to go over my turbo's.

If you look you can see the dark gray bar that I bought mocked up to the frame mounts. You can see it going under the turbo. This won't work.

I will have to build an "n" shape to go over the turbo.

Will the tires be throwing water, dirt, and other foreign objects right in to that turbo inlet?

No, just a small piece of sheet metal will take care of that.

BUT, I have found a way to do this, now if it will stop raining I can finish it.
