Thanks.
Actually it happened just like you said it would. I fixed my Dremmel tool last night, and carefully cut the lip.
Well, the lip seperated, and I also got into the body filler a bit.
So I got another paint can {which is almost perfect fit}, cut it with my cut off wheel, and managed to get the right thickness on the first try.
Then I applied the seam sealer to the back of the ring, and pushed it in, and around the gas cap. Then got a bit of body filler, and with my finger went around the outside, and inside of the cap filling in the bad spots.
The real trouble is finding the steel that is the right diameter. I really wish I could have found a thicker piece since it would have made it perfectly round. The thin steel I used conformed to the imperfections of the circle, which took quite a bit of work to get it back round.
I'm also plan to recess the tail lights so that they will match the gas cap.
When I finish that, and smoothing out the filler I can, brace, primer, and paint the bed. Then it will be done so I really hope you guys enjoy it.
Now I need to call my big buddy to help me get my 67 Eleanor Mustang out of my paint booth. For which everything is done except the wiring which has had to take a back seat to the B.
I'm going to try and get the B finished before Dec, or divorce, whichever comes first.
