I ran 8 on my Toyota. But I did coil under cylinder, not coil over. I think you need a longer cylinder if you do coil over. Or use no spring and use an accumulator. It will ride best with accumulators.
Are you wanting to hop it? 18" is a huge cylinder, and there's no need for that much lift unless you plan on chain bridging it and trying to hop it.
Thanks for all the kind words, fellas. I do like them low! My wife actually still drives it every now and then. I love hearing about the looks she gets, lol.
I'm thinking something like what Tre5 did on the front of his black Cab Plus but with a 3/4 ton spring in place.
I'm not planning on hopping it, but the occasional is quite possible. I don't want to do accumulators (at least not right now). I know the 18's are huge for the rear but I can't help but like the idea of huge rear lift and better 3-wheels. I'll get it sorted, hopefully before the 1st of the year.
Thanks again for all the comments fellas. Your opinions are truly appreciated.
Dude... your truck do what you want.. but 18's are prob gonna bend in a 3'wheel... that is absolutely huge... unless you have them.. I cant see the reason to spend the money on them.. I ran 10's in the rear of my yota.. I couldn't three wheel unless I was moving.. but its sooo hard on the frame.. these trucks are not as strong as an impala... friend of mine build a mazda with 18's and a monster bridge and could do a 3ft standing 3wheel.. he bent the frame and the cylinder.... eventually.. but he had fun... like I said.. your truck.
Brat,
I got the 18's and 10's along with pumps, motors, relays, switchbox and all at the same time in a lil horse-trade. That's why I was asking what everyone thought about running them. Thanks for all the info, fellas. When I get started on this thing I will keep y'all posted. In the mean time, I need to find a steal on a 350 for my daughter's Z-28. She gets her license in about 9 months so I gotta get it running.
Dude,
Understand on the trading... I would definitely try to trade the 10's for a set of 6's or 8's... I was talking to my buddy and I was wrong.. I ran 6's on my yota and got full lock out.. if you stick with the 10's I would def reccomend chaining it.. if not I think you will damage your control arms..
just my .02... good luck on the 350.. what year z28?
My old set up was mounted where the shock sits with a coilover 8 inch cylinder set up Built up and boxed w/240 spring rate.that set up rode ok.
Screw running springs, invest in accumulators and ride nice and smooth.
+1 if your budget can handle it. best ride you can get with hydraulics..
