So my mate only had the "stock" replacement.
As you can see, the "stock" is smaller and the ones I replaced did not work at all so pretty easy to beat really
I've known that these shocks were rooted from day dot.... but only NOW am I changing them... the end of the financial year is coming up so why not... lol. Did this as it NEEDED doing, I WANTED to do it and to PROCRASTINATE some work as I'm feeling bloody swamped. (yes, exacerbating the problem but it made me FEEL better to tick something off )
VERY pleased with the results, jumped up and down a bit, drank a victory bourbon to stop myself from pushing down on the corners and exclaiming just how very clever I was for doing it and how very silly for delaying it in the first place.

So like many of us, my blower only worked on a couple of settings.
All the years these poor little resistors have been sitting there in cruddy conditions baking away, I'm not surprised.
Gave the ute an interior clean, fixed the other fan (2 on engine, one just stopped because it's easier than running I suppose), installed a couple of new 4" speakers and tidied up some wiring... you know, shit that doesn't get me much closer to my engine transplant. lol.
Anywho, here's my cheap and nasty fix to the broken/blown resistor wire.

A few coils missing and you can see the break.

Scraped clean so some solder will bond onto it... mashed back into shape... sort of.... and TA-DA!
4 fan settings again, marvelous.

Currently I'm drawing pictures of where my wires will go and what I need, so making slight progress.
Had the missus's old man come by today and he's well impressed so he has a dose of enthusiasm when I need
my 36-1 pressed/hubbed in. That'll come in handy

Thanks to Cusser for his handy information on the resistor pack

Man you are not kidding. I took my evap core out a few weeks ago, and was truly appalled at the crusty crap on it.

Kinda reminded me of back when I worked at a local chicken plant while going to college. They brought out one of the stoves from the cafeteria, and with all of the grease and dead roaches it looked just a bit worse than my evap core.

the hell with everything about that!!!!!! lmfao!!!!

^^ my feelings to be honest, lol. But perseverance shall see me through... hopefully.
Vacuum secondary stuck open today, 4500rpm starts.... urgh.
And it was the missus starting it so I wasn't there to stop it, lol... until I came out from the bathroom to ask why the F*&K is the ute pulling massive cold start up revs? lol.
Fixed it enough for the drive to work but I think it's a sign... to PUNCH anyone who steals my time away from finishing this DAMN ENGINE TRANSPLANT!
Had to coast into work as the secondary arsed out again but in the closed position.... sigh

Seems like it spun a bearing, has stayed where I last parked it.
Starts up, idles ok, little bit of gas and she starts knocking (mechanically) away. Sigh...
And now have a crook back, which I'm hoping will resolve itself in the next couple of days, have been "tweeking" it the last couple of weeks with some awkward/heavy lifting and haven't been to the gym in about a month so no stretching/strengthening to keep me in line
On the upside I finally found a b2600i tank from a cab plus, $200 incl pump.
Only delivers so I haven't seen it yet but he's 95% sure it's what I'm after.
That'd be a great weight off my mind and I can just slug her in and she's factory F/I pump/tank!
Was going to put a pump in my carbie tank, $120ish but hey, now I can do better!

oh and the final surface mount stuff should turn up this week... maybe... lol.
