The factory frame is 4.75 tall. It looks like its been dragged quite a bit thats all?

yeah i dont think the original owner cut the frame at all, i think he had it bagged and sitting frame before he body dropped it cause like you said it looks he was draggin it before. the floors cut and raised up so it doesnt lay frame anymore, its on the rocks

alright been a while since ive updated this. havent done too much, but i got a few things checked off the list. just had wisdom teeth surgery and trying to mix that work has been pretty time consuming but I got around to the truck. I found out what was the noise inside the oil pan on the vortec which i wanted to take care of fix before its in the mazda. i thought it the line was broken that goes up from the oil screen into the motor where i had welded it before but i dropped the oil pan and saw little peices of flat metal and knew it wasnt it, instead a crank bearing was broken so once thats taken care of i can really get to

anyways on the truck i got everything taken off the fire wall, fuel lines brake lines clutch lines brake booster and everything off the inside of the cab the brake and clutch assembly, gas pedal, throttle cable, parking brake steering column and the shifter is out. going to be cutting the old firewall out and welding a new steel one in so it is nice and flat. this is where its at now

( sorry about the white blur on the left need to order a new back cover for my phone)

been a while since i updated this but ive got some progress. i got the 4 cylinder out and sold all the parts i had for and whatever im not gonna use or dont need for the build. cut out the firewall, wheel wells, and the front of the tranny hump because the vortec is wider than the old 5 speed.

time to go find some motor mounts and figure out the tranny mount for the vortec. right now im cutting out the fenders so i can weld in the new ones ive had for the engine compartment. i set them to get an example how they will come out

other than that i brought it out the garage the other day to clean it out and keep some life in it, ill be posting more pictures soon

stay tuned

I really like the billet grille and bumper together! Lookin good, Did you brace your cab before you cut the firewall?
whoisbabyjay   +1y

late reply but no figured i didnt need to , i didnt cut it all the way up, just to below the windshield wiper motor so i figured that was strong enough to support it

alright i been gone a while but its time to get back it. nothing too special but keeping it alive on the board. after ordering the wrong size bearing set to replace the spun out main bearing, i got the right size and popped em back in. now time to ressurrect the motor and bring it back to life, been sitting outside for about 8 years and it started getting familiar with mother nature after a while. gonna be cleaning it out, replacing what old parts i can and getting everything painted and shiny before i drop it into the mazda. ill be back with some updates soon

also, ive heard WD-40, baking soda and water, acid, degreaser, but whats your guys take on removing surface rust from the block and parts on it as seen in the picture?? ive kept the motor covered and plugged up while it was sitting but water managed to get to wherever it could. thanks
