Ive had the itch lately and had really missed having a truck in general, and also missed having a dropped mini. So after searching through craigslist at unfinished projects and overpriced nightmares i decided that i was going to find me a beater since i planned on swapping out and rebuilding anyways. I found a 90 b2200 localy and had always seen little mazdas done up pretty nice in so cal where i grew up. I bought it for $750

It wasnt in super bad shape...it had been used for scrapping...and the body was a little beat, had the hydraulic lifter tick...but started up and drove around easily. Figured why not for 750....things change in a few days

i start on the reg tune up stuff because i have to go through emissions (the beginning of my WTF is this?) and the plugs dont fit with the socket on them... figure who knows maybe its some weird head (really should have noticed 12 valve on the valve cover) find the same heatrange as listed in a smaller head etc...continue with tune up....eventually get annoyed at the valve tick and order hyd lifter parts etc....parts arrive and i go to dig in and it hits me...this is a 2.6...go to the mazda dealer run the vin...sure enough its a 91 b2600 se5 (i?) Shortly before realizing this i took it to emissions and it was running rich so i was dead set on pulling the head and do a valve job lifters etc. When i found out i didnt have to pull the head i replaced all the hyd lifters. Replaced the 02 sensor, also found out the pcv valve have gone bad and the intake was a sludge pit. Deep cleaning..buttoned it up and took it back to emissions. Passed no problem....now i can have fun.... dropped it down 3" ditched the beauty rings (missing one anyways) and center caps for the moment

new tires (in last pic) tie rods, brakes, wheel bearings, shocks,a stereo came next..... then i decided to wash the engine compartment...without the engine running (bad idea) but it needed it bad...the distributors gaskets had aged over time and deteriorated...i found out after banging my head on the wall and testing everything else i could...i drowned the optical unit. so a new distributor went in lol. Went ghetto with it threw some color on it...

no problem...im still doing the little tweaks on mine, so by the time your ready ill have figured out how to get it right the first time...i used a dremel to do the whole job...a large cutoff wheel and a toothed grinding bit...i gotta go to the junkyard to get the plug for the turnsignal/running light hole in the ranger lights..prob do that after i do the relocation this morning
