This weekend I decided to tackle something that has been annoying me for a long time, the faded black trim around the window. The faux chrome strip was beyond repair in my opinion so I just sanded it and recoated it when I did everything else. The plastic trim part behind the window, and the mirror, I did with black bumper paint, and the metal around the window itself I did with regular black paint.

Some under-hood pics!

Rather than flashy chrome, this time I went with black.

This black air cleaner looks nice with the tri-bar wing

Distributor is a SBF small-cap HEI - there is a GM HEI module in the little chrome housing on the side.

This is where I mounted the electrical components for the swap, the solenoid, a circuit breaker for the alternator, etc.

Looking awesome! Can you tell me more about the Ford small cap distributor using GM hei components?
Is it just like a 1 wire GM HEI distributor? Is it from a kit or backyard engineering?
Looks "alot" better than using a large dizzy cap.

Same basic idea, I used one of those "big cap HEI" distributors made for Ford on my 69 pickup truck and I agree, the small cap one looks way better. If you go to evil-bay and search for "Ford small base HEI" you should see some show up. Whereas the big cap HEI distributors for Ford sell for about 50-60 bucks the small cap ones sell for about 75-80 and then you need an external coil as well, but its worth it because it's pretty much the same size as an older original style distributor so it fits better and looks better. You can find them with blue cap red cap or black cap.

Here one that comes with a coil for 90 bucks:

Man, I am loving how quickly the pages load at this site now, but having a real hard time finding old threads or learning how to navigate the new layout. Can anybody help me, I was commenting on a thread called "how to: re-index torsion bars (with pics)" and I can't find it anymore (following link from my email from before the site changes just leads to an "oops we can't find that page!" error message.

Nice looking build. I haven't been on this site for some time so I'm sorry I didn't get to lend a helping hand so to speak, but with all of the guys I see posting here looks like you were in good hands.

I can tell you, IF, you want to go with headers one day that a set of tri-y's from a 65-68 Mustang sbf, will work.

Hey mtrain thanks for the tip on the classic tri-y headers I will keep that info in case I do that upgrade in the future.

Here is a pic of the grill, I removed the MAZDA emblem and put this 5.0 V8 one in it's place.

I like it! And the black covers and accents really match your truck's color scheme in my opinion... What did you ever decide on rear end? I think I read it but I forgot, and how's that holding up for you so far?
