I have got to wait until in the morning when I get up early while it's quiet in the house to read through your thread. That Mazda is sick.

Is this directed towards me?

Well I did not do much today. Being out in the 100 degree sun all day yesterday kicked my ass. So today I just chilled most of the day. I did get back to measuring and drawing the front of the frame. I had to figure the rest of the mounts for the steering box and the front frame stubs. I got all that figured out and then went outside and messed with the Trooper axle a bit.

To narrow it I will need to take about 3 to 3&1/2" out of each axle for them to have enough to re spline them which will get it pretty narrow pretty quick. So instead of getting an extra short side axle I might have had better luck with another long axle. This is one thing I have to get settled before I make the back of the frame because the width where the frame goes over the rear axle depends on the axle width and where the bags will go.

So then after I got to that stopping point I printed my individual piece drawings and started cutting the steel (2"x4"x3/16") for the engine cross member. I then cut the angled pieces and beveled the edges and then clamped it down on the table and tacked it up. I made two passes on each weld and let it cool. The inside weld is the only one that will be seen.

The rest of the welds got the grinder treatment. I started with a rock and then switched to a 3M Cubitron II to finish it out.

I would like to get the main rails that tie into this and the front stubs all cut and together in one piece. Now that I have this figured out I can pull the stock frame down from my frame table. I need to use it to make a counter top for my brother and his wife.

And I also am adding two more cross pieces in the frame table at 30" in from each end. I also need to add the tabs for the leveling pieces.

More to come tomorrow if I have any energy left in the evening after working in the heat all day.
