Well the factory arm is less than 3/16" thick, a metric size so that is plenty. You need to pie cut the uppers to the balljoint angle is zero on the arms.

I will get it measured and draw it here in just a bit.

ok sounds good, ive seen some pie cut uppers and flipped lowers, theres a guy here i think running stock yota spindles and he lays a 20 with those mods so shouldnt be too bad.

Ok, you will have to email me to get the DXF file. That's what most cutting machines use. So if your guy can't open it just let me know and I can send a DWG also.

Here is what it looks like.

Just get it cut out of 1/4" and trim away whatever parts of the stock Mazda arms you need to. Just lay it over the stock arm with the big hole lined up.

Ok, update on the project.

I am ready to start cutting steel for the frame. I will do that sometime in the next few days.

I am also ready to go get a Sportage. I was gonna get one today or tomorrow but the one I had zeroed in on has been sold. So I have to find another suitable one. It needs to be a 1998-2002, auto trans 2wd and less that $2000 for me to even look at it.

But in the mean time I will cut the pieces for the engine crossmember first then the pieces on up to the frame rails. Then I will work back from there. I probably won't cut or install the pieces forward of that until I sort out the steering details.

The white Mazda with the pink splash is the limo the first time we stretched it in August of 1988.

No more pics that I know of.

Ok, update from today. I just picked up a 1999 Sportage. So now the fun begins. Time to cut some steel.

Well the plan for the weekend is to start cutting steel for the frame. I am going to start with the engine crossmember and the main rails that go between the control arm mounts. Then make my way backward down to the long main rails.

The frame in that area will be 3"x2"x1/4" wall. The long main rails will be 4"x2"x1/4" wall. And forward of the control arm section the pieces will be 2" square 1/4" wall. The section in the back behind the step notch will also be 2" square 1/4" wall. In the back that should protect the fuel tank.

I guess I better order some uniballs and some DOM tube for the arms. I think I better go to the pick n pull early Saturday and get the Trooper rearend before someone gets it.
