I have been using mine for a few months now no issues yet fixing to put a different b2200 rear but going with a welded diff next

Also you should get rid of the wiring on the passenger side next coming out of the fire wall all you need is the wiper wiring the rest can go along with the ecu in the kicker panel

I've gone through several Mazda rear ends. I advise against welding the diff, unless you want to buy tires every six months.
I suggest an LSD 8.8 from an Explorer or Mountaineer.
I'm swapping in an LSD 10 bolt from an S10, just because my drive train is Chevy from the radiator back.

^++1 on SinCityLocal's post...

I've read reports of welding the diff or trying to use a Mazda rear end not working with a v6 or v8 swap - those guys ended up swapping to an LSD.

I never tried with the stock differential, but I swapped mine out for an 84' RX7 LSD differential and it seems to be holding up well. I don't really do burnouts though.

you V8 guys have any problem with wheel hop or do you even have enough traction for that to be a problem?

I had an axle wrap issue, but aftermarket overload springs helped with that.
Never had any axle hop, because there was always one wheel that spun, and one maintained traction.
Now I'm slowly installing a 10 bolt lsd from an S-10 with bags, sway bar, and a 3 link.
