Dualies are common on the road over here in OZ, the same with extra cabs. check out DRA93N 's ride a perfect example of good these come up:

why not just buy the cab, put it on a single cab chasis.

That sounds like a plan. I don't think I would build a wagon but a short chopped bed with just enough room for my bike would be awesome.
