i bought a supposed gm one wire, for my mazda and am modifying my bracket a little, just had to grind it, but mine has a regulator for the voltage.. and so i have a ground and an extra power wire to hook up its simple enough havent finished it yet. hoping its good lol, got mine at kragen auto parts for 56 bucks 105 amps

Well, that doesn't sound so bad. You know how stock wire looks after 15 years or so. Buried in electical tape, wire loom, etc. I'm afraid I'll discard something I actually need. But assuming the alternator is good, I'd like to just run new wiring and be done with it, if possible. Is there a specific model of GM one wires that you guys are using, or did you select it based on amperage??

your alternator will probably test fine! but that doesn't neccessarily mean that it is putting out enough amps! i think our alternators only put out like 60-65 amps which is fine for slightly modded trucks. but when you go adding compressors, amps, electric fans, fuel pump, etc...
on top of the stock shit, your pulling way more amps the stock alternator can support. which is why you need a high output alternator!

Good info. So how many amps should I be rollin' with??

ill get the part number off mine for you tonight, simple install just my tools got jacked like right in the middle of me doing it so i just got some more from a mazda scene member and i pulled the bracket last night but forgot my grinder at work lol, anyway its waaaay bigger than my stock alt i know that for sure, and i just asked for a gm alt one wire and this is what i got lol, i am glad its not a wire wire though because the one wires are internally regulated and dont start producing power until 2,000 rpm with this one i have it senses voltage and turns on as needed!

So it will work like a normal alternator?? I'm not looking for anything to power a satellite station....yet!! That will be down the road a ways. I got a ton of other shiznit to mess with. Like getting the truck to run!! Thanks for your help.

Call Custom Chrome Racing,18007354593, they rebuilt mine to 140 amp output, I increased the wire sizes as was told my them, & increased the main fuse !$135, works great ,no problems!

That's perfect. So the part with the nut gets the ground to it, and that's it??

no it grounds through the casing, the part with the nut is the battery positive people see that black bolt and wanna ground it from what i hear that only screws stuff up, and i was told it grounds through the casing... and then on these two plugs..

one goes to the positive side on your battery and the other to a ground...

like that, hope im helping
