on another subject, why not put the bolts in the other way, as in nut in the tube?

Because the nut is quite a bit larger than the bolt head, and you can't get a socket in there that fits on the nut. They came with lock nuts.

I'm not sure yet if I'm going to just go straight back with the rails from there, or drop them back down and then out to the back. I will decide tomorrow.
