Q&A on Z'ing

OK, i pretty much got how to Z a frame. but there is this question that keeps popping up in the back of my mind everytime i think about doing it. and i would just like to get some other peoples thoughts on he matter! When you cut the frame horns and cut the frame under the firewall to drop the rest of the frame level with the ground. that will make the engine a little higher, right?

OK, my question is if the engine goes up, and the rest of the frame goes down.....wouldn't that put your engine & tranny at a fuct up angle?

i thought about getting some dropped motor mounts like seth makes! also thought about when i Z it just welding my tranny X-member a little higher.

just wonder what you guys thought! my concern might be completely unnecessary!

Depending on if you are gonna bd it the motor mounts will probably help you out a lot.

Why are you z'ing it if your not body dropping it?

To make it lay flat and not be nose high when laid out........

Personally, I'd just lower the motor the same amount you Z the frame. Theres a few ways you can do it. If you raise the tranny, everything will be higher, and it will mess with your driveline angle a bit. And it also wastes valuable cab space.

you never plan on body dropping it? if you do i wouldnt waste your time doing it yet.

id say drag that front crossmember so it is about to get to the lca so youll have a smaller Z (and its fun). and if your worried about the motor angle just buy seths 1/2" motor mounts ( if he's still sellin)

I'm not making the 1/2" mounts anymore, but I have one set left that was on my truck before I made mounts for the alternator bracket delete. And also more drop..

i recommend zing the frame....i dragged my front crossmember until it fell off..now its just tacked up there.......my arms are shot too. dragged them to the bushings, Wish i would have z'ed my shit
