Considering the fact that they are both cars that the body must be cut off of the bottom in order for it to be body dropped, and they have a continuos body from firewall to trunk panel...they arent that different at all. The big difference is that the Caprice has a frame under it, and the prelude doesnt. But both still do have a continuous floor with no breaks. So cutting the body on the Caprice would be very much like cutting the body on the Prelude. Thanks.

a unibody car and a car with a frame are very different, the only thing they have in common is the name "car". the caprice is a rear wheel drive opposed to the unibody's front wheel drive. the sub frame in a unibody functions nothing like that of a car with a full frame; the full frame is the backbone of the car, the unibody is an integrated unit.

you can drive a caprice without a body, you cannot drive a unibody the same, for obvious reasons.

the concept is similar, but you are not simply cutting out and raising the floor for a unibody drop, there is considerable reinforcements needed to maintain the car's structural integrity. with a full frame vehicle, you never lose the integrity of the frame... the wheel base, engine mounts, etc. are never touched. you cut only the "cab section" if you will. the floor board of a full frame vehicle has nothing to do with the drive train besides minor reinforcement of the frame. the floor board of a unibody car IS the frame.

i see what you're sayin about the continous floor, but if you cut the floor out of a unibody it's gonna fold like an empty beer can without MAJOR reinforcement,if you wanna rework the floor you might as well build a full frame & hang the shell over it

I know that. What I was trying to say is when he cuts the floor out he is going to have the same problems that Garrick had with the wagon. I was saying he should talk to Garrick about what he did to keep the body from sucking in.

its the planning that takes forever.. with parts in hand.. no time at all,lol

well..as some of u already know.. i had to cut out my cantilever due to the fact that... cops dont like it.. so im thinking of other ways to keep the suspension on the outside of the car.. so what i think im gonna do is.. put a bag between the "frame rail/body" and lower control with some bushings and and bent tubs. and see what happens.

my front took 9 days from driving in, to driving out. my rear took 3 weeks (including shaving the 4 tail lights).

Its all about skill level, planning, and how much time your able to work on it. Ive already got most of the planning done and ive got all the time in the world to work on it but my skill level is not where it needs to be in order to build a full frame. So for now im pulling the whole car apart and starting to cut out all the shit that needs to go and adding bracing as well as doing the rest of the body work. Im going to start building my frame after I get to school in April.
