Is there a thread that is longer than this, or is this the longest thread? Can this thread be made into a sticky thread?? or put it in the "Hall of Fame"???? or at least put it in the Tech area. "how to lay pan in a honda 101"

I vote this the best damn thread this year!!!

k-otic is gonna be starting on a wagon w/ a dead axle soon, either eclipse or a caravan. might be easier than keeping the independant rear. i'm not positive what lug pattern they are though.

There was an older body accord that had an eclipse rearend in it I think. His sn was importtuner or something like that.

I had a second gen eclipse and it was a 5 lug. The same wheels fit on a toyota.

I've pretty much decided on doing a solid axle too. I think I am going to stick with an axle from a 83-87 Civic so I will be able to use the wheels I have. My car is a daily driver and I can't afford to replace both the front and rear tires every 6 months. One pair is enough for me. I like to drive too low to deal with 4 wheel camber.

You also have to remember that when doing a solid axle your going to have to cut the entire floor out of the back and make some kind of notch out of whatever support is back there. Plus run a four link and support that. Not saying you can't do it though, it would be bad. And I know that you can cut the floor out of a car (tucking20s's), he's secretly watching Just a hell of a lot of work.

I'm not worried about running a four link. There is no pinion angle to worry about so I just want to use the factory set up for a civic, with trailing arms and a panhard. I've done some measuring and there really isn't that much cutting necessary. The axle sits pretty low between the wheels and it will slip right behind the gas tank. Once I remove the big bolted in support that holds the control arms there is a ton of room. I will have to cut some, but not a lot.
The good part is that I'm not trying to set up huge wheels, just 19s. Most of the work involves tubbing it for the wheels and relocating the latch for the back doors.

Well, sounds like a plan then. I am working on the back of the prelude right now and damn, I am glad that I didn't have to tub the car. Only 18's but I am happy with the size of the wheel. you should put some sort of link back there so you still have side to side and can get through dips and shit.
