like jason said u gotta watch the "crate:" term ppl throw it around too much ... my uncle owns a show and he said every one of his engines are crate motor i told him he was full of shit and his responce was hell every one get shipped to me in a crate there for ill tell every one its a crate motor

the term crate motor is only supposed to be used if the motor is a brand new motor from the dealer.such as the zz4,350 h.o. or the ford motorsport roush motor, ford gt-40 motor.if its not a motor built from the factory the term crate should not be used.just my opinion

I don't know what the prices are on the base motors, but it wouldn't hurt to look at the Edelbrock crate stuff. I used one of their engines in a '57 Chevy and it runs like hell...you also get the warranty that you would from GM.

hey, if you're interested in cheap motors

De Nooyer Chevrolet
(269) 372-3040

they sell crate 350's 4 bolt mains, the older style 70-85 or whatever, for bout 1,100 bucks. that's stock though.

THEY ARE NOT rebuilds, they are repops. make in mexico, but the same block as before. they're GM products. pretty good price down that way.
