I am digging up old posts here, but I priced machine work on my block and a rebuild kit to do it myself, and it came to a total of 145 for the machine work and 4 new pistons, and 235.00 for the rebuild kit with time chain, freeze plugs etc... Hell I guess I am getting hooked up.

I am getting parts through a local engine rebuilding shop.

Thats a hell of a deal. I was looking at a few Gs for machine work. But when I pulled my motor apart the bore was perfect (only had 88K on it) so I didn't have it bored.

out here this way 145 seems about right for machine work, not sure about the pistons alone. when the engine guy rebuilt mine, he bored its out made sure everything was perfect and all the clearances are almost at zero. i got the best of the best rebuilt kits from him and it came out to $700 but that was for everything except the rods and the crank.
