but the thing is, i'm around semi trucks a lot, and on their tag axles, the bag brackets are parallel when dumped... i'm not saying your wrong, but thats professional engineering there.

you have to remember that your front control arms dont articulate the same way that rear axle does..it moves up and down..you have to take into account the way your lower arm swings

Thats because their axles dont travel through an arc. Do you think the bag has more stress on it when its inflated and you are driving or when its sitting in the driveway with no air in it. If the plates are not parallel when you drive the bellows will rub together and the bag will have more stress on it at the plate. As long as the bag doesnt rub on anything you will be ok. I am just telling you how to get 50,000 miles out of an 89 dollar bag.

Sorry Trevor beat me to it.

mine were parallel when layd out..same way i setup my rear brackets, i mounted the bags to the lower bars, jacked the axle up to where the truck is layd out, then compressed the bags, then thats where the uppers went...PARALLEL to the lower brackets..u want them like this so the truck will lay out without pinching the bags and so it wont bottom out to soon(if that makes sense to you)with some air in the bags it will remain pretty much the same(parallel) fully aired up it will have some arc in it most likely

I'm gonna say parallel at dump. There will be alot of strain on the bag as it is stretched in two different directions if not.

i'm talking about Tag axles, they do swing there's two bags on them, one to raise it, and one to lower it, there's a pivot point int he middle, kinda lik a teeter totter

how many pounds does your front end weight, when dumped all that wait is on your bags, on that one little pinched point, now when your inflated, if theres a rub or pinch, there is no way all the weight of the front of your truck is on that one little spot

twisteddragger   +1y
When my front end is dumped all of the weight is on the frame. I can pick my tire up 1/4 inch since I set it up for 23's. But what do I know? My last truck was only driven for three years daily. When I lay my truck out,the bag isnt twisted or anything, its just not as parallel as when lifted.

parallel when at ride height. the bag can be at an angle when layed out. when the bag has to open at the side like an accordoin then you lose lift.
