I've had real problem lately with the MSD boxes. I've gone through 7 of them in the past year and a half on the mustang. They keep replacing them so I keep putting them on, LOL I guess i'll do that till they say no more because I sure as hell am not going to drop another $700 into an MSD box again if they are going to be faulty.

Back to the Toyotas. I'm assuming that with the Mallory's being high end equipment they can be rebuilt when need be?

On the OEM ignition is there anyway of tweeking the output so they will throw a higher arc? Do they make a high output ignitor and spark box? Most that I have seen for the toyotas have basically been of OEM quality.

That sucks on the MSD box failures, hope you get a good one eventually.
The last I knew or checked rebuild parts were readily available for the older Mallory distributors. A good source for the parts when I was doing mine was Century Performance, they were able to get whatever I needed for the Mallory unit I was using.
If you have the stock coil/igniter assembly that has the coil mounted under the igniter and removable, you could upgrade to a higher output coil, if its the coil/igniter thats a combined unit I don't know whats available other than possibly one of the boxes from MSD, Mallory, ect. I,ve never used any of the box units so don't have much experience with them.
Oldschool here, big coil makes big spark, fancy computer box makes pain in the butt to wire or work on

dude at lc said those are great, but you cant really work on em on the road if you need to like you could w/ a msd or crane. also, bad if they get wet or something...
