as long as honduras is on the list of allowable driver countries.... Like Germans, Mexicans, etc are all extended the priviledge of driving their own cars on vacation/visits in the US. They give you special tags and country stickers for the rear.

But unfortunately, you have to show records that the vehicle LEFT the country again too..... which of course is not your plan.... and if it didnt leave the country it has to be certed, exported, or crushed.

And there are limits on how long you have owned the vehicle before you can bring it over the border too. I think you have to own it a minimum of 6 months ( it may even be longer since 9/11) before you can petition for a temp permit.

But give it a shot. Talk to an RI, they know what fits the law and what does not. I mean, you are essentially attempting to break the law by re-using a cab with transferred vin plates in the US anyway. Might as well find out exactly what you are up against... If there is a way to do it legally, the RI would know.

well everything we do as minitruckers is technically breaking the law. once i have the cab i could care less about someone saying something about me having a 4door body. around here no one will bother me about it. and what if i were to build one that wouldn't be legal either. niether is shaving door handles or taking out airbags to put in billet steering wheels. just the price you pay to be different i guess

I'm not disagreeing with you, just letting you know why you dont see any others already done. Once you have one in the states, it will be kind of hard to keep it a secret. And all it takes is ONE GUY you have a disagreement with at a show or in your town who doesnt like you that knows you did a VIN swap on a 4 door cab, and suddenly all your hard work is being exported or crushed.

Its not illegal like shaving handles or removing steering wheel airbags, its illegal on a federal level with really big fines and consequences. Like the difference between buying drugs and DEALING drugs.

THATS what makes it worth it to do it legally. I know some people will disagree, thats ok too.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been trying for three years to get a crew cab toyota cab and the cheapest I found would cost me 8500 to get it to the states...I had a buddy who knows an importer in canada and he could only get whole trucks...I even had some dudes from AU looking but they told me 10g's to get it to the states and that was just a cab...
