clean out the gun with a rag first, fill it with thinner and back off the tip so that it's just hanging on. what that does is cause the air to go through the body and into the cup, , mixing the paint in with the lacquer thiner and cleaning off the sides.i got this from a learn to paint online thing, forgot the name of it. it's the closest thing to what a paint cleaning gun does. empty that out, run some new thinner, repeat and do like james says and put some thinner in the cup and leave the tip in the cup. this way nothing has a chance to harden up.

Ive got a Deville GTi and I use a bag, all you do is fill the bag in the cup and after your done just throw out the bag and soak your tip in thinner. If you dont use a bag soaking your tip in thinner as well as leaving a little in the cup is the best route.
