I know this isnt reallly the place for this because i have no idea where any of you guys stand in this war in iraq, but i need to vent on this topic. Ive been at school for the last nine months so i never really thought about the war too much. Eleven days ago my girlfriend called me and told me one of the kids i graduated from high school with was killed in a car bombing over there. I had this week off school and was luck enough to be home last night to go to his viewing. No more than i walked in the door after his viewing i got another phome call saying that supposedly another kid i went to school with was killed. The truth came this morning when the news said 5 more local soliders were killed. Yes this came one the same morning as burrying the first one that was killed. I knew 2 of the ones that were killed yesterday and one of them had just gotten married and had a new baby girl just before he left. I have one friend left in iraq and i hope the best comes for him because he was best friends with the first one that was killed. They were split up as soon as they got over there and he said from that point that nothing good would come from it.

What are all of your point of views on the war? Does anyone else think that were over there and that theyll just keeping picking them off a few at a time until theyre all gone? I know death is a part of life and i have come to that reasoning a long time ago. But damn, all of these people from all over the untied states are getting killed everyday. A lot of them are from all of these damn car bombings.

I just needed to blow off some steam. But i want to just say that id like to pray for all of the rest that are still over there and i wish them the best of luck. Hopefully theyll all come home safe.

Well The war is personaly to me. So im not going to go there. But heres what a few of my friends that just came back said too me.

They would rather go over there and die and keep the war over there. Or we could just sit back and let the war come here to the states as in it did on 9/11

Everone in the Military knows what there getting into when they sign that dotted line. Nobody made them do it ok. Its a risk they take so me and you can sitt here and chat online and so some people can bitch.

But it is pretty simple if you ask me. If we pull out and all are troops come all you treehuggin peace peps will be like bout damn time. But then when Iraq becomes a terroe state and starts breeding more and more people that hate the U.S. and are morle likely to come over here and kill us then the same people will be like Why dont you do something?

Just remeber this. Its eazy to look at events in hindsite and say we should of and could of done this and that would not of happened. Heres the catch ....we dont know everything. So we cant prevent every thing. And are military never gets praised when they stop a history makeing event they only get critisized when they miss one.

Just something for you to think about? The war here with bullets flying pasy your mom, dad, sister and brother. Or on there turf were only the ones that signed up to protect us are in danger??

I'm sorry that you lost some friends. I know that hurts and makes you angry.

But there is no draft, and, contrary to the bill of goods the moonbats keep trying to sell us, there won't be a draft. Your friends enlisted, of their own free will. They volunteered to at least take the chance of going into harm's way so that terrorism wouldn't reach our shores again.

Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for another.

They're heroes. It's sad and tragic that they had to be, but this is where we're at.

There's been a lot of debate about the war in Iraq, its justifications, and whether it's worth the cost. I believe that Saddam's wholesale slaughter of his own people (about 300,000 over 20 years) and his financial and intelligence support of international terrorism ($10,000 checks to families of palestinian suicide bombers, 1993 World Trade Center bombing, providing refuge to Abu Nidal and the Achille Lauro head thug) MORE than justify kicking off on his ass.

If you read up on it, you'll find that the current terrorism in Iraq comes from two major sources:

1. Former regime elements, high-ranking members of the Ba'ath Party, who know that a successful democratic government means their eventual capture, trial and hanging, just like what will happen to Saddam.

2. al Qaeda cadre directing a steady stream of expendable brainwashed splodeydopes from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan and Syria. AQ is also fighting for their very survival, because a successful democracy in the heart of the Arab world would spread until their brutal 7th-Century cult of Wahabbi was choked out of existence from within.

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of comparisons between Iraq and Vietnam. In Vietnam, 55,000 U.S. soldiers were killed over a ten year period. That's 5,500 a year. Two and a half years into Iraq, we're at 1,900 casualties. That's about a TENTH of the equivalent.

No, this is more like the occupation of Japan just after WWII. If you research that, you'll find that Allied soldiers and the new Japanese leadership were targeted by insurgents for YEARS.

We occupied both Japan and Germany for nearly a DECADE. How have they been doing since? Would you call THAT failure?

I wouldn't. But the mainstream media and Michael Moore and the rest of the Moore-ons are trying to sell everybody that bill of goods. Don't buy it.

I'm not sure if I can answer your questions as poetic as others could. Even if I could I am not sure anyone would understand.

When I was getting ready for the war and people I know started protesting I would remember this...

A warior fights for reasons the protestor will never understand. The protestor rallies for reasons the warior will never understand. Both are patriots. However, only the warior knows what freedom cost.

u now it funnie , i may be a bad speller but some what that this gentalman is saying is how i feel. and no iam not a tree huggin hippy it just war sux and the point that i was try to get across was that their is a more tackful way of handling this and it not bush doing the fighting and dieing it the people. and to lisen to a few on here if you do not have their mine set than what you say has no backing . and iam not against war . one of the books i like the most is the art of war . but what i had to say on here was bast for my poor spelling and then a person on here try to annalis me and make me out to be a con .you know who u r. and the point then and know is that it just sucks . it like the saying . bleve noting you read and half of what u see. so open your mine just a little and see it from all side. or just take the ez rout and make fun . but it people like that in this would that teach hate and teach their children to think their better than some one, because of a learning disorter. and yes like my self. but whos really weak mined the one that admits thay have a problem or the one that try and dasel with their high voc, think about it ? and u now who u are. and i now this just pisses you off because u know iam right. but hell had to get that off my cheast sorry to do it on your tread , but i do agreey with you . but thay are in a better place . and as far a praying every nite for all of them. GOD BLESS AMERICA . and thank for the right to bitch.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately it happens far to often just about everyday over here.
In my opinon, we are doing the right thing. I have been over here since January, and am thankfully about to go home in a couple weeks. IN that time I ahve seen things that I hope my family never has to see. For that reason alone, i have no problem being here, and everywhere else I ahve been over the years. Since before 9/11, I ahve been back and forth and am averaging about 5 months at home between trips away. I ahve been gone for more than half of my marriage, and more than half of my 6 year old daughters life. Do I like being gone, no, but I would much rather do what I do here, as opposed to doing the same thing in the states.
For those of you that oppose the war, the Military, or the President, good for you, I am proud to serve you. It is my pleasure to protect the rights that you and all other citizens of the US enjoy. To those of you that support the Military, thank you, it makes it a whole lot easier to do when you know the people you are working for appreciate what you do.
If the US and Coalition leave Iraq now, the insurgents(terrorists) win. All of the people that have died fighting, will have died for nothing.

Staff Sergeant Tolliver, thank you for your service.

Shawn, yes, I know who I am. Interesting that you should choose to copy the format of the post I made that got your goat. The vocabulary you've seen from me so far is nothing. It's just the way I write. Basically nothing more than 12th-grade English. If I was TRYING to impress people with my vocabulary, you better believe you'd be flipping through a dictionary right now. (And if you suspect prevarication on my part, consider whether or not you'd support the slaying of pederasts by exsanguination) LoL

Anyway, Shawn, as far as believing nothing you read, why don't you ask SSG Tolliver if I've got a handle on the situation? After all, he's THERE......much like the people I'm getting my information from.

/edit: PS, Shawn, I agree that war sucks. You say you're not against war. I've got some surprising news for you: I AM against war......

.....unless it's the alternative to something even worse.

I'm pretty sure SSG Tolliver feels the same way about that, too.
