yea i was just havin a really bad night the other night when i wrote that. Im not no damn tree huggin hippie or anything like that and i know they made the ultimate sacrifice by signing that dotted line. I knew everything that all of you guys have said. It just sucks losing so many people so close so fast. I dunno i dont get to watch the news much anymore until this week cuz i was home from school. I never hear anything good that we have done and granted this is probably the medias fault. I think it is a good thing that they are keeping all of this over there. I dunno it was just a really shittty day the other day n i said what i was feeling at the time. I feel completely different about it now and I hould have known all of you guys would say shit like you did. Thanks for the criticism though i thhink i just needed to hear shit like that from someone else instead of me just saying it to myself all of the time.

SSg Tolliver: Best wishes to you and i hope you get to return home safe.

i am not opposed to war as much as i am opposed to certain things about this particular war. My cousin for example: was set to end his 2 year contract with the US Army on January 9th, 2005. On January 1, 2005 They told him in 2 weeks, he would be leaving for a 18 month tour of duty in Iraq, there for extending the contract that he origionally agreed to. He left on January 18th, and was killed January 25th. He lost his life a WEEK after he arrived in Iraq(for the 2nd time), even though he was contractually not even supposed to be over there.

Tolliver could you start a thread of the good thiungs you are doing over there? I can add a few of the humanitarian things I did over there. I think it would help if people see what the news will not show.

I can see where that would piss you off.

One thing you might not know, though, is that when someone enlists in the Army, they incur a service obligation. It's written right into the enlistment contract.

When I first enlisted in 1983, it was six years. At some time before I ETS'd in 1992, it had changed to EIGHT years. I had fulfilled my service commitment either way.

But, unless they've changed things a LOT, your cousin still basically owed (by a voluntary contract) the Army another six years.....

We(in my family) all understand the contract issue. Its just the fact that his 2 year agreement was up. And after goin to Iraq for the 2nd time, he was killed...

freedom isnt free my friend. you cannot blame the war for the passing of your friends, its terrible dont get me wrong, but they joined the armed forces, it was their own decision. it cold have happend any way.. they made a decision and they stuck with it, be proud of them and for them for being brave a sticking their lives on the line for your own freedom to get online and bitch about the war.
