today i was painting my dash in the garage, and wasnt thinking and had the over head lights off so since my visability was limited, i did not notice that the paint was spraying thicker than i usualy spray. so now it has some nasty runs in the most visible spot, and since im out of paint now(go figure) what is the best way to get rid of the runs and not having to re spray the piece, except with the clear? what grit do yal use before you spray the clear? 2000grit?help me out guys, ive had the dash outta my truck for 8months now and want to get it back in!!

600 grit for clear, or 1500 to knock the run down.

you ran the base? or the clear?

i sprayed the base and got runs, i want to get it all smoothed out and cleared this week tho!
so sand the runs with 1500? and then go over the whole piece with 600 before i spray the clear? and then sand clear with 2000?

i would sand the runs out with 1500 or 1000 but then i would get enough paint for one last coat to go right back over the 1500 grit and then clear it. you would never know they where there!

if u can get some more base sand the runs with 600 but if not use 1500, clear it and then if u want to buff the clear sand it with 2000. but if ur not gonna buff the clear dont sand it

It'll make a HUGE difference what color you sprayed... if you used anything w/ pearl or metallic in it, go buy more base. you might have a shot at making a solid color come out okay if you put enough coats on and sand it w/ 1500 though.

im using white, so it should hide some of the imperfections, i guess ill tackle it with 1500 for a while then wipe it down and spray clear and see how it comes out, thanks for your input

clean it off with thinner and start over
