I am wanting to get a new pistol either .45 or 9mm. What is the best for the money? I saw in the Gander Mountain add they have a Taurus 9mm for $299. Any comments or advice appreciated.

it all depends on you...

i like the .45 hk usb, i had one and loved it, fit my hands perfect, i also had a glock 19....wasnt too impressed, nice gun but didnt fit my hand real well

for a small carry piece id get a glock 23, small and powerfull .40 i think

I have a Keltec P11, 9mm, I believe its the smallest 9mm you can buy if you are looking for a carry weapon. I plan on getting a Glock next though, fit my hand well.

Hey, thanks guys thats a good idea. I will just go hold a few and see what one feels the best. Is there any brand to not get?

My friend has a Taurus, and I like it a lot. Haven't shot it though. What ever you do, DO NOT get a Jennings. It's made by Bryco Arms. I've got one of those things, and I swear you would be better off throwing it at someone then taking a shot at them. It jams every other round. And its heavy as hell too.

it all depends if you consider Les baer as the best then at like 1600 and jennings the shittiest at like 150 id say a great middle of the road is a Sig arms 45 p220 i loved it its some bucks but if you shop around you can get one for about six new with the tridium night sites. id take the 45 over the 40 for shear power meth junkies and speed freaks dont feel small bullets. haha. anyways taurus is a knock off of beretta and theyre pretty decent brazillian made just like my fiance. stay away from the military 1911 thing makes me sick. its sloppy as hell best thing to do if you have bigger hands go with a 45 smaller hands go with a 9 or a 40 theres not much of any recoil on any pistol. but if your talking a good belly pistol id go with the ruger hammerless revolver in say a 357/38 you can load your first two with 38s and if that dont stop em put a 357 in the 3rd and say goodnight. revolvers are great for learning to shoot better cause you can leave a round out and youll feel yourself jump it teaches you to shoot much better (i used a similar tactic on my sniper rifle) sept i used a dummy round.
