I'd choose a 1911 over any pistol you named. Springfield Armory's Mil-Spec gun is very smooth and reliable. I've owned several. They don't campare to my Wilson Combat, but not much does.

SIG SAUER is the handgun!!!!....the 230 is a good carry around gun, small 380 with plenty of knockdown power...228 is a goodsized 9mm...i guess its all in what you like

i just got my concelled pistol license,so i go to the gun shop, and i ask them whats a cheep hand gun. (they looked at me kinda weird, but i told them i just got my license) anyways, they sell me a makarov p64. only $160. its pretty powerfull. i took it to the range a few times. i like it, but i gonna get somethign a little bigger, its a 9mm, but looks like a .38

Isn't the Makarov a 9X18mm? 9mm parabellum is 9X19. The Makarov round is exactly halfway between a 9mm and a .380.

But I think I'd have to agree that the Makarov is a bargain for quality vs. price.

I used to carry a taurus 92 & 93. Very good guns. My father carrys them on ops with the Gov. Personaly I will never carry a 9mm again. not after seeing them thing bounceing of stuff they should hav ewent though. Everyone I know in law enforcment and the military is either carring a 40 or 45 now. Glock is over rated cause of the use by the police. H&K is prob the best thing out there but they cost some cash. If you want the shit bro. go get an ar-15 put a 4inch barrle on it remove the stock bam little kick ass gun.. Or you could just buy a taurus??

Well to keep you guys informed I bought a Springfield XD .40. It is freekin awesome! It is plenty powerful and my girlfriend can still shoot it. My friend(who has a Glock) shot it and now wishes he had an XD instead. The grip fits well and the recoil is not bad at all. It is super easy to clean and I got it with 3 12 round clips and a holster for $470.

dude dont teach your girl friend how to shoot your gun cause that may be a bad thing later in life.
