Well to keep you guys informed I bought a Springfield XD .40. It is freekin awesome! It is plenty powerful and my girlfriend can still shoot it. My friend(who has a Glock) shot it and now wishes he had an XD instead. The grip fits well and the recoil is not bad at all. It is super easy to clean and I got it with 3 12 round clips and a holster for $470.

I wouldnt buy a taurus, its just a cheap knock off of a baretta. I like my HK .40, very nice gun. Springfield Arms also makes very nice guns as well.

i know a bunch of people that own taurus guns and they all love them. i've shot a taurus .38,357 and .40 they alll kicked ass. springfields are bad ass guns too but they'll cost you more than a taurus.

Where did u get it at for that price? By me in Indiana they are selling that for $550.

I got it at a local shooting range in Wichita, KS. They had two of them. The other shooting range had the package for $530, so I know they are out there. The range I got it from said they only charge a 10% mark-up, so i would imagine the cost is around $425. You might try checking at shooting ranges or gun shows. My friend got a brand new H&K usp .40 for $600 at a gun show, so be patient and you should be able to find a good deal.

Springfield makes some damned nice guns. High quality, good design. I've heard very good things about the XD.

As for Taurus, I've owned 4 of them over the years, and they work for me. My current favorite CCW piece is a Taurus PT-111 9mm.
