EVEN THO I BEEN USING MY JACK STANDS NOW EVERYTIME I STILL LIKE TO KEEP THE JACK UNDER IT AND IF POSSIBLE,IF THE WHEEL IS OFF I LIKE TO SLIDE IT UNDER THE VEHICLE ALSO.CAN NEVER BE TO SABE.MY CADDY ACTUALLY MOVED ON JACKSTANDS BECAUSE I GRABBED THE TOP OF THE QUARTER PANEL TO HELP MY SELF UP.

I hate reading posts like this, it gave me chills the whole time.

I have always been scared to get under vehicles even with jackstands. When ever I am under there, no matter how many precautions I take, I can't get the thought of the truck crushing me out of my head. I think it

the only thing that saved my life was the brake drum, thats what the axle landed on when it fell, just that little 2 1/2 to 3 inches. if i had only slide the tire under i would have been fine.

I can't tell you how many times i've been happy i put the jack stands on the FRAME and not on the rear end and control arms.

Keep in mind if you pull an air line and it leaks down, and it's on the rear end and control arms, it's still going to come down. I suggest keeping them on the frame yo!

WHY WON'T PEOPLE LEARN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It takes soooooo little time to be safe. I am sorry to hear about your boy, and I wish him the best of luck with his recovery. My best friend used to allways climb under shit without stands. I guess all my years of harping on him, he finaly uses them about 95% of the time. I personaly won't get under anything without stands. Just remember, Death takes the fun out of Life EVERY time!!!!!!!

ITS NOT JUST THE IMPORTANCE OF JACK STAND ITS ALSO THE RIGHT AMOUNT AND LOCATION OF THEM. BOUT 6 YEARS AGO WHEN I HAD AIR SHOCKS ON THE BACK OF MY TRUCK I HAD 2 STANDS ON THE FRONT AND THE REAR AIRED UP ALL THE WAY WHEN A LINE BLEW AND THE REAR AIRED OUT I WAS CRUSHED BETWEEN MY CREEPER AND MY FRAME. I BARELY GOT ONE HELP CRY BEFOR I COULD'NT BREATH . A NEIGHBOR CAME OVER AND PICKED UP THE TRUCK LIKE 20 SECONDS LATER. IWAS LUCKY TO ECAPED WITH ONLY A FEW BRUISED RIBS.BOTTOM LINE BE SAFE

i get so paranoid under cars i use like 6 jack stands, leave a jack under it and some cinder blocks... i know the blocks are shit but i use them under tires to take some weight off of the trucks and add stabillity (most of the weight is on the 6 other jack stands) to the jack stands... ifve had one of then slip on me an scare the bajeeezuss out of me

i also set wooden blocks under the frames if im working on a truck/car with air, i had a bag blow out on me while i was d/a'ing the lower half of an s-10 with my legs slightly under...good thing for quick reflexes...only a brused knee, so know i put blocks under them lol

luckly I was only changing a rim but my jack failed and the truck came crashing down lucklty the rear was lifted to the max otherwise Id be looking for a new rear axle when I go under the truck I have two jack stand under the front cross member 2 at the jack pionts in the front of the frame and two at the rear of the frame along with a stock rim and tire in between them just in case. nobody is invinsable be safe and hard that my two cents on this subject.
