you are going to have a hard time just swaping half shafts. all the ends are splined and the number of splines have to match and they need to fit the bear properly. heres a write up to gewt to a 4 on 5.5 for mustangs pattern..

if you redrill for the wheel studs then they need to redrill the drum. it slides over the studs.
How would that work if you have drums out back?
