Well if u havs the subs hooked up parallel u r running them at 0.5 ohms and that will cause the amp to shut off!! U can run them in series and it will produce a 2 ohm load and u will be good but u really need to get some higher power handling subs 4 that amp

hey andy are you wireing each sub to its own "channel" (i say channel because there are seperate wireing connections on the that amp because its internally bridged) I think that you may be wiring them to too low of an ohm load and causing the amp to clip. i need to know are they dvc or svc and if you have they wired in any odd way.

if they are svc and wired like this then your ok(only difference being that you would not wire them together but to each side of the amp)

if they are dvc then this is the only way you can wire them because it will produce a 2 ohm load versus a .5 by wiring them parallel.

you have the right ohm load.. yea its a mono amp.. like it was mentioned one of the subs is more then likley blown.. a blown sub will still play.. if it sounds muddy or if it bottoms out before the other sub then the voice coil is almost shot... those subs are crazy!!! we blew a few at are shop a few times and every time the voice coil would catch on fire..

If im not mistaken cant the JL amps take any ohm load

he has a jbl amp its the bp1200.1 which is 1 ohm stable and with 2 ohm subs that means there is only 2 ways to wire it because if he did it the third way it would produce a .5ohm load and that would cause the amp to clip and shut off

heres how I have it wired. negitive, positive, negitive, positive, I have one set going to one sub the other set going the other sub. I thought this was the normal correct way to power those subs? It has 2 sets of speaker outputs and I have each out put going to each sub. The subs are dual voice coil and I have the adapter from alpine to correctly hook up the subs and turn on the voice coils

theres not really a problem running that amp at a supposed .5 ohm as with impedence rise it will prolly never see less than 2. check your VC's and id wire to 4 ohm to be safe, but theres no harm in wiring to .5 IMO. are the type S svc or dvc anyways?

while hes running a JBL amp, i just wanted to say that JL amps (mono blocks) push the same power at 1.5-3 ohm and then drop off after that.
