all i can think about is BASS MEKANIK in that robot voice, is that the same silver bronco that was in the inside CD cover? i think it had PPI logos all over it.

Team Gates will continue to exist. I have too many friends worldwide to close it down. Basically, I am going to slow down on my traveling. Hopefully the bronco will be placed in a location where people can still enjoy it. It is a beautiful install and sounds awesome.

The bronco on the Bass Mekanik Cds - Sonic Overload and 5.0 is the original bronco. It was sent to Amarillo, Texas last year to my good friend Nathan Munson. The Beast was pretty much beat up and needed a lot of TLC. Nate has always told me that I needed to let someone who knew something about SPL work on the bronco. Well, he has it!

The current bronco is a 1986 that I purchased a few years ago out of Lawton, Ok. Gary Biggs was responsible for the install. For those of you not involved in car audio, this bronco took first at the MECA finals last year in Sound Quality. It looks great, sounds good and can get loud when needed.

You use the Bass Mekanik cds? I always enjoyed those. Neil Case is Bass Mekanik and responsible for the music. He is one talented person.

Hey, thanks for asking.

Alma

Hey Alma. Congratulations on everything you've accomplished. I rmember when you first took the scene by storm. I was working back in Illinois doing car audio for Circuit City. About eight years ago I move to Tempe and one of the first things i saw driving to my new apartment was seeing the PPI hauler on the 202/101 Curve (Which i later found out was the home of Gila-Recycling) and got excited thinking how close I was to living close to where a legend spends her days. A few years later I chatted with you at length about gaining sponsorships and never forgot your words of wisdom. Currently I have two project I am working towards getting sponsorship on, Project NvrMade and I am finally building a stock ca to race weekly out here (I just relocated to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area) and your words of advise have most certainly changed my approach on how to go about it. Good luck in all your endevors.

BTW, when I drove down Rio Salado the other day my last thoughts were "That's where Alma's place was!" It looked like there were still some of your trucks out there. Are you helping with the reclamation?

Thanks. We have been involved in the cleanup for a few years now. It was sort of sad to see that old building come down after all these years - but that is progress. I am glad this part of the change took place after my husband passed away. It would have been a very difficult thing for him.

I know Target and some major theatre group are going in there.

The shop has been moved further east just at the 101-202. The office has been moved over to Broadway and Dorsey. I am "OFFICIALLY" retired from Gila. Feels good. LOL

My husband and I started the business in the mid 70s and it was time to let someone else take control.

We are doing major dealer visits this season. You can check out our schedule on my web site - TeamGates.Net or Org.

Did you happen to see the Bronco articles in Wired and Phoenix New Times. They were fun to do and really outside the car audio world. They are still on Internet..

We have been very lucky on the amount of media exposure gotten outside the audio world.
