Look, I've recently been in an on-line argument simillar to this. What you guys are not taking into consideration is the engineering that goes into the modification.

Danny, I would be willing to bet my best donkey that the part did not fail at the weld, but instead broke on either side of the plate/gusset.

If the plates are not extended far enough as to eliminate a "stress riser" it will, at some point, break.

A stress riser is anything that "sees" concentrated stress. If you bend a piece of uncooked spaghetti by it's ends, it will bend suprisingly far, but if you hold the spaghetti with only an inch to bend it will break right away. By moving you hands closer you are efectively creating a stress riser. The stock spindle used to have a smooth uninterupted taper that was engineered for the best strength to weight ratio. Now the part has a really strong part right in the middle of the taper. On either side of the plates is now just a "strong" as it used to be, but now it is a point of concentrated "stress." All of the issues could be cured by running the plates from the very top to the point where the knuckle starts getting big. That is called engineering. Does that all makes sence?

I'll raise his bet 2 young camels and a hand grenade. I couldn't have said it better myself. If there are any other MEs on here I know they'd agree. His spindles may work and they're not intended to be 100k mile replacemnts. If you want to get low and slow buy 'em. I have nothing against harryballs or his work. Probably gets the job done decently but like I said, not too sure if I'd daily 'em or go flyin down the highway at 100+.

im only 8 classes away from my ME degree at UF. from what ive learned so far, these things look like theyll pass...ill get back to later in this semster whilst taking my FEA class...

a few more random stupid things you said

"sleeve bags suck ass, had 4 set in 3 months blow out and nothing close to them, the plate at the bottom rubs the inside of the bag when aired out and causes them to blow from the inside out"

"you know the bad part is the thief can sue you for his doctor bills since it was your car, i didnt believe that the first time i heard it till it happened to a friend of mine here, a guy stole my buddys cavalier and wrecked doing 100 plus, fliped it 6 times down an embankment, police showed up took the man to the hospital and a month l8tr he got a summins to court over being sued for the thiefs doctor bills and the court told him he would have to pay them for it being his car, well he didnt pay it and now he is spending 6 months in jail over it, now tell me that isnt fucked up"

ok the first part on the paint you might be right, but my uncle paints and thats how he has done it thousands of times always turns out perfect, the sleeve bags are from madfocus2002 before he got a computer and yes thats what was happening, they was from suicide doors and we discovered the lower plate was rubbing inside the bag causing them to blow, dont believe call suicide doors and ask them your self matt daniels was the owner of them and they was on a 2002 focus, and the part about a theft can sue you, that is true, or at least it is here in richmond ky ive been in court before and seen it happen to a guy, like i said before im no expert and niether is anyone else on here with the exception of a few, everyone does shit diffrent ways, so how can you be wrong, its just opions, look ive been in a bad mood for about 2 weeks over some shit so i have blowed up over stupid shit on here, and to everyone that i did that to im sorry, but im no lier or expert on any of this shit, ive learned alot thru trial and error, im am certified to weld, i have family that paints, family that is in the automotive repair, and other helpful fields. im not loaded with money so my ways is cheaper and works just as good as the expensive ways, and like i said im no expert.
