not too sure, but as you said the fuel just dumps in there maybe its missing the fuel mist valve? or maybe it needs to be replaced or cleaned. i don't know much about Carburetors but it should mist like a fuel injector.... maybe im wrong....

Seth, can you make a deal with the smog guy for like a 30-60 day extention with the promise of not driving it except to smog? Maybe he will pass it for that long and a fine if you don't come back and pass it before the time runs out?

Just thougt of something does the fuel pump bolt to the side of the block like a mazda manual does? If so the lobe on the cam runs the fuel pump so the aftermarket cam could be part of the problem I wouldn't think so but then again more fuel more power so it might be worth a shot to throw the stock cam in it or better yet take your fuel pump off and grind the arm down a little so it wouldn't push as much fuel.

why would it not dump at idle though? wouldn't it let the same amount in every time it opens? then again, with the cam turning faster at higher RPM's.....

The cam I bought is a stock regrind. They start with a new stock cam, and change the profile and you adjust your valves to it. So its the same lobe.

Okay so I ran a smaller fuel line to the carb, and used the other port on the regulator to push excess fuel into the return line. It runs fine at idle but when I try to move it under a load it sputters. So I plugged that end off and just ran it straight to the carb, and it still sputters. I pulled the intake off to look again, and it still sprays a shitload of fuel, but I can see it cutting off and sputtering. I don't get it now..
